INSURANCE
Aurora Counseling is an out-of-network provider for many insurance companies.
While I do not bill insurance companies directly, your counseling services may be eligible for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, medical spending, or health care savings accounts.
If you are interested in using your health insurance, I will provide you with a receipt at the end of each month which you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network coverage.
Individual Counseling
Individual Counseling for adolescents and adults consists of one-on-one, collaborative meetings between a client and a counselor. At Aurora, the therapeutic relationship created during this engagement promotes deep, reflective insight and exploration into new ways of thinking, feeling, and acting. Together, we will develop an authentic, open, and engaged alliance that supports healing and growth. Most Individual Counseling sessions last 45-50 minutes, with cost depending on counselor and experience. Most clients are seen once a week, but how often you schedule sessions will depend on your personal needs and goals.
Relationship and Family Counseling
Relationship and Family Counseling is an interpersonal approach that focuses on addressing challenges and working through issues that are present within a relational context. Relationships can include the dynamics between romantic partners, close friends, and family members. Topics that can be specifically addressed at Aurora include general marital concerns, parent-child attachment, family alliances and boundaries, LGBTQ-related issues, navigating alternative relationships (e.g. long-distance, consensual non-monogamy), interpersonal trauma, and more. Counseling in this context is heavily influenced by Emotion-Focused Therapy. Most Relationship Counseling sessions last 45-50 minutes, with a thorough intake assessment lasting one hour and 20 minutes. Most families or couples are seen once a week, how often counseling sessions are scheduled will depend on the needs and goals of the relationship.
Group Counseling and Workshops
Group Counseling is another interpersonal approach that emphasizes new social learning experiences, skill building, and fostering meaningful connection with others. Many of the struggles clients face are social in nature. At Aurora, clients will have the opportunity to re-create the same patterns they have with people in their lves, but in a safe and confidential setting where they can experiment with healthier forms of communication. Upcoming groups are being developed for general interpersonal processing, trauma survivor support, and more.
Workshops are educational, activity-based events focused on gaining valuable information on a topic and having time to practice new skills in a calming environment. Workshops that are being developed include a "Mindful Meditation Series" and a "Healing, Loving Touch Series for Couples." Group Counseling sessions and Workshops are held once a week, and last approximately one hour and 15 minutes. You can start exploring the Groups and Workshops that are currently being formed for the near future.
Career Counseling
Career Counseling involves an exploration of interests and abilities as they relate to a client's career development and trajectory. Aurora facilitates this exploration through a thorough investigation of your personal values, personality, background, circumstances, and life goals. This process is helpful in learning more about yourself in order to make career, educational, and life decisions that serve your sense of meaning and purpose. Most Career Counseling sessions last 45-50 minutes, with a thorough intake assessment lasting one hour and 20 minutes. How often you schedule sessions depend on your personal needs and goals.
Life and Relationship Coaching
Life Coaching is different from the counseling process. A client may seek coaching services when there is a more specific problem or obstacle that requires action-oriented responses, rather than the depth and insight work that often characterizes counseling. If you are facing challenges in life that requires time-sensitive decision-making, regular check-ins, and an identified course of action, then Life Coaching may be an option for you. Topics often addressed in Life Coaching involve life transitions, self-care and stress management, relationship concerns, professional development, and self-esteem skill building. The coaching relationship can involve the typical 45-50 minute face-to-face meeting as necessary, but is different from counseling in that it can also include regular phone calls, video chats, and daily e-mail exchanges or texting. The coaching relationship is often long-term with services utilized as needed. For this reason, life coaching can be conducted from anywhere in the world and is also offered remotely.
Due to the various communication outlets used and the frequent availability that I maintain for coaching clients, rates for this service are calculated differently than for counseling. Please contact me for more information and to see if you qualify for this program.
